Nashik is well connected by rail, air and road, but the Kumbh Mela brings a scale of crowding that makes a bit of route planning worthwhile — especially around the Shahi Snan dates.

By Train

Nashik Road Railway Station is the main hub, roughly 8 km — about 15–20 minutes — from Ramkund Ghat by taxi or auto-rickshaw. It sits on the main line connecting Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and other major cities, with express trains such as the Tapovan, Panchvati, Sewagram and Nandigram Express serving the route regularly. For the Mela itself, expect additional special trains during peak dates.

To ease congestion at the main station, four satellite stations are being upgraded specifically for Kumbh traffic: Devlali (useful if arriving from the Mumbai direction) and Odha, Kasbe-Sukene and Kherwadi (for pilgrims arriving from Bhusawal or the north), each with dedicated holding areas.

By Air

Nashik's own Ozar Airport, about 20 km from the city centre, handles domestic flights and is undergoing a major terminal expansion aimed at completion around March 2027 to handle international arrivals. For now, the more established gateway remains Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, from where it is a further 3–5 hours to Nashik by road or rail.

By Road

From Mumbai, the Mumbai-Nashik Expressway or NH-3 typically takes 3–4 hours. From Pune, NH-60 takes roughly 3–4.5 hours. Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) and private operators run frequent buses on both routes, with extra services added around the Shahi Snan dates.

Getting Around Locally

From Nashik Road station or the bus stand, Citilinc city buses, shared autos and taxis connect to Panchavati and the Ramkund area. If you're heading onward to Trimbakeshwar — about 38 km from Nashik Road station — dedicated vehicles are available from the same point.
